Dental veneers

Gone are the days when veneers were only accessible to actors and singers, and decorative plates were made in just a few dental laboratories.

Now, anyone wishing can get veneers to straighten crooked teeth, cover stains, or build up "eaten" teeth. The result of the procedure will please the patient for decades. Computer modeling is used to create the dental prosthesis, allowing the patient to see the future result in advance, make their suggestions, or add corrections.

Veneer Installation

Depending on the complexity of oral cavity preparation and the manufacturing of veneers, the entire process can take up to 10 days. The installation is carried out according to the following scheme:

1
Consultation with the doctor, during which existing problems are identified, possible solutions are considered, a treatment plan is drawn up, and the preliminary cost of each stage is determined.
2
Computer modeling allows seeing the future result of aesthetic correction, making changes according to personal wishes.
3
Preparation of the oral cavity for the aesthetic correction of teeth (treatment of caries and gum inflammation, removal of tartar and plaque).
4
Tooth preparation for veneers and taking impressions.
5
Installation of temporary overlays (temporary veneers are fixed on the prepared teeth to give the patient a preliminary idea of the future appearance).
6
Manufacturing of overlays in a dental laboratory. Master models and impressions are sent to the laboratory to create precise copies of veneers from the selected material.
7
Fitting of the plates to assess their conformity to the shape and color of the teeth, possible refinement by the dental technician to achieve an optimal result.
8
Fixation of the finished veneers.

Types of Veneers

Ceramic
This type of plate is most commonly used in dental practice. Ceramic veneers look natural and can be made in any shade. This allows for the correction of the appearance of individual teeth in the dental row. For ceramic overlays, teeth are ground down, however, the layer of enamel that needs to be removed for secure fixation of the decorative plate is only 0.3 mm.
Porcelain
Porcelain veneers are the thinnest compared to plates made from other materials. This allows porcelain overlays to be placed on teeth without prior grinding of the enamel. The high strength of the material ensures long-term wear of the veneers without changing their appearance. The only downside to this type of plate is its high cost.
Hollywood
The habit of calling overlays 'Hollywood' is a throwback to the times when TV stars dazzled with their smiles in the literal sense of the word. Hollywood veneers can be made from zirconia oxide, ceramics, or porcelain. Only one thing remains unchanged: an excellent aesthetic result.
Composite
Composite veneers consist of several layers of composite that are sequentially applied to the tooth surface to correct enamel shape and color flaws. It is not necessary to grind teeth for composite veneers. It is enough to make the enamel surface rougher for better adhesion of the material.

Recommendations

Ceramic plates do not change color, almost do not accumulate plaque and stone deposits on their surface, making daily oral care straightforward. It is necessary to clean the teeth from food residues using a properly selected toothbrush, paste, floss, and mouthwash in the morning and evening, and use sugar-free chewing gum after meals during the day. Thick ceramic veneers, for which tooth preparation is done, have enough strength to withstand the load when biting into hard foods. It is not advisable to bite into hard candies, open bottle caps with your teeth, or ignore the need to use a mouthguard when engaging in injury-prone sports. All these can damage even healthy teeth, and thin decorative plates even more so.
