Plates

Orthodontic plates are a removable construction with a soft plastic base and metal fixing elements, which do not cause significant discomfort and are almost invisible on the teeth.

Advantages of plates:

1
Ease of use;
2
Quick manufacturing;
3
Effective treatment;
4
Relatively quick adaptation.

TYPES OF PLATES FOR TEETH

Removable plates

Most convenient for everyday use, as they can be removed during eating or speaking. These types of plates are easily removed and worn, which distinguishes them from braces. They are most often used for children and teenagers.

Advantages of plates:

1
Correction of jaw shape;
2
Slowing down/speeding up tooth growth;
3
Slowing down/speeding up tooth growth;
4
Correction of palate width.

Non-removable plates

Firmly fixed on the teeth. They have the possibility of adjustment, a procedure periodically performed by a dentist. Such plates are used less frequently, only in cases of severe bite deformations.

Advantages of plates:

1
Narrowing of the upper dental arch;
2
Gaps between teeth;
3
Lack of necessary space for upper, lower incisors;
4
Bite defects.

Marco Rosa Device

The Marco Rosa device is a non-removable orthodontic construction for expanding the upper dental arch. It consists of a plastic base, which is attached to the palate with rings and support legs. The rings are worn on temporary molars, and the legs are fixed with filling material. An expanding screw located on the plastic base helps to form the correct bite and perfectly even teeth position.

Thanks to the use of the Marco Rosa device, the upper row of teeth is expanded, creating additional space for permanent teeth. The lower row of teeth adjusts to the upper one. This construction is completely invisible. It is individually tailored to each patient. The use of the Marco Rosa device reduces the need or eliminates the need for subsequent bite correction in children with brace systems. It also has a therapeutic effect by expanding the nasal passages and improving nasal breathing.

Indications for installing the Marco Rosa device:

1
Crowded teeth;
2
Lack of space for the eruption of permanent teeth;
3
Narrowing or shortening of the upper dental arch;
4
Insufficient development of the upper jaw;
5
Crossbite, distal or mesial bite.

LM-Activator

The LM-Activator™ is an orthodontic device for early treatment, helping teeth to align correctly during eruption, optimizing muscle functions, jaw growth, tongue position, and articulation.

Made from biocompatible hypoallergenic silicone. The material's hardness is chosen so that the device is not chewed up and does not cause significant discomfort when worn. Young patients quickly adapt to this construction. The trainer securely fits, so it stays in the mouth even during sleep. It has holes that allow the device to be used in cases of difficult nasal breathing. The material does not change color during wear.

The best results in correcting crossbite are achieved if treatment begins at the stage of tooth eruption.

Indications and contraindications

Indications for installation:

01Crowding of teeth in the area of incisors and canines;
02Rotation of incisors and canines;
03Detailing and positioning of teeth after treatment with a brace system;
04Gummy smile;
05Open/distal/crossbite.

Contraindications for installation:

01Mesial bite;
02Displacement of the midline exceeding 3 mm;
03Severe form of tooth crowding requiring surgical intervention;
04Very narrow upper dental arch;
05Significant occlusion disorders.

Orthodontic Ring

The orthodontic ring is part of the brace system, which is attached to the molars and premolars to provide a reliable support for the corrective construction. It is made of stainless steel, which is biocompatible with the human body. It enhances the effectiveness of treating bite and dental row disorders.

It completely replicates the shape of the tooth on which it is installed. The inner part of the crown, which contacts the tooth enamel, is covered with a special solution. A non-removable prosthesis or implant can also be used as a support for the orthodontic appliance.

Indications for installation:

1
Bite features;
2
Installation of a crown or bridge;
3
To adjust the process of tooth eruption, growth, and development;
4
In some cases, before implantation.

Advantages:

1
Low risk of detaching the brace system;
2
Protection of teeth from external factors;
3
Prevention of caries risk;
4
Affordable cost.

Retainers

A retainer is an orthodontic appliance that fixes teeth in the correct position, preventing their displacement. Retainers are installed immediately after removing braces, but strictly after a hygienic cleaning and caries treatment: they cannot be installed on affected teeth, as another construction in the mouth again complicates hygiene and leads to deterioration of the oral cavity condition. Also, during orthodontic treatment, the enamel may thin, so in addition to hygienic cleaning, teeth need fluoridation and mineralization.

The duration of wearing retainers is on average twice as long as that of braces, and patients who corrected their bite in adulthood – after 25-30 years – may wear retainers for life.

img

The duration of wearing retainers is usually individual and depends on the following factors:

1
The age of the orthodontic patient;
2
Presence of harmful habits;
3
Oral health;
4
Complexity of the clinical case.

TYPES OF RETAINERS FOR TEETH

Removable retainers

The removable retainer is represented by a retention plate and a retention cap. The plate is made of plastic and a metal arch. It is more often fixed on the upper teeth, but its use on the lower teeth is also practiced. The retention cap is made of transparent plastic; it is fixed on both the upper and lower dental rows. The cap, unlike the plate, affects diction less, is more aesthetic, and better controls the position of the lower incisors.

Non-removable retainers

The non-removable retainer looks like a thin wire made of hypoallergenic, biologically neutral alloy, which is securely fixed with special glue on the front six teeth. It can be used for both the upper and lower jaws. It firmly holds the teeth in the smile zone in their places. The non-removable retainer is not felt by the patient, requires minimal attention during hygiene, and does not provoke gum inflammation. In most cases, the orthodontist recommends combining a non-removable retainer with a removable cap or plate.

Myobrace Trainers

Myobrace (Myobrace) is a system of trainers designed to correct bite pathologies in patients of any age. They are created from silicone using a two-layer technology. They do not cause discomfort, stimulating the proper development of the jaws, which contributes to the alignment of dental rows. The main advantage of this orthodontic construction is the ability to wear it only during sleep.
In the first stage, the doctor selects a soft silicone cap. Its wearing helps to cope with harmful habits and myofunctional disorders. In the second stage, constructions of medium stiffness are used. They are necessary to expand the dental arches. In the last stage, the orthodontist selects sturdy devices with a hard polyurethane arch. With their help, the position of the teeth is aligned. They are also used for retention.

Indications for use:

1
Crowding of front teeth;
2
Distal, mesial, deep bite;
3
Narrow dental arches.

Advantages of Myobrace caps:

1
Tone facial and oral muscles;
2
Expand the jaw for the correct placement of teeth;
3
Eliminate crowding of the teeth in the frontal row.

Recommendations

The device needs careful maintenance, as it is in the mouth during night rest

To avoid the occurrence of inflammatory formations on the mucosa, trainers should be sterilized: it is recommended to rinse the device under running water after removal, clean the construction with a toothbrush with toothpaste, and treat with antiseptics a couple of times a week.
